1. To set a wallpaper or assign a wallpaper

Steps:

  1. Right-click on the Desktop → click Personalize.

  2. Choose Background → select a picture or browse one.

  3. Click Apply / Save changes.


2. To set a screen saver

  1. Right-click on Desktop → PersonalizeLock screenScreen saver settings.

  2. Choose a screen saver from the list.

  3. Set Wait time and click Apply → OK.


3. To adjust Date and Time

  1. Right-click the clock on the taskbar → Adjust date and time.

  2. Turn off “Set time automatically” (if needed).

  3. Click Change → set date and time manually.


4. Show and hide clock

  1. Right-click taskbar → Taskbar settings.

  2. Under Notification area, click Turn system icons on or off.

  3. Toggle Clock → On or Off.


5. Move the taskbar (4 sides)

  1. Right-click on taskbar → Unlock the taskbar.

  2. Click and drag the taskbar to the Top, Bottom, Left, or Right of screen.

  3. Right-click again → Lock the taskbar.


6. To widen the taskbar

  1. Unlock the taskbar.

  2. Move your mouse to the edge of the taskbar, when pointer changes to ↕ drag upward to increase width.

  3. Lock the taskbar again.


7. To create a folder

  1. Right-click on Desktop or inside a drive → New → Folder.

  2. Type folder name → press Enter.


8. To arrange icons on Desktop

Right-click on Desktop → View → Auto arrange icons or Align icons to grid.
Or choose Sort by → Name / Size / Type / Date modified.


9. Search a file or folder or program

Click Start Menu or Search bar → type name of file, folder, or program → press Enter.


10. Set www.psc.gov.np as home page (Internet Browser)

For Chrome:

  1. Click ⋮ (three dots)Settings.

  2. Go to On startup → choose Open a specific page or set of pages.

  3. Click Add a new page → type https://www.psc.gov.npAdd.


11. Create a folder in Desktop & insert file "Rich Text Format (.rtf)"

  1. Right-click Desktop → New → Folder → name it.

  2. Open the folder → right-click → New → Rich Text Document.

  3. Type content → save as .rtf.


12. Add a program to Start Menu

  1. Right-click on a program icon → Pin to Start.


13. Add a program to Taskbar

  1. Right-click program icon → Pin to taskbar.


14. Show your Name & Roll No. on Taskbar

  1. Right-click taskbar → Toolbars → New toolbar.

  2. Browse → create a folder with your Name & Roll No.

  3. Select that folder → click Select Folder.
    → Your name appears on taskbar as toolbar title.


15. Change the Tool bar settings / Quick Launch Toolbar

  1. Right-click taskbar → Toolbars → New toolbar.

  2. Select Quick Launch folder or custom folder.

  3. Drag icons in or out to modify it.


16. Control the size of Start Menu

  1. Open Start Menu → hover over its edge → when cursor changes, drag to resize.
    Or
    Settings → Personalization → Start → adjust options.


17. Show hidden files

  1. Open File Explorer → click View tab.

  2. Check Hidden items box.
    → Hidden files become visible.


18. Searching the file from Name

  1. Open File Explorer.

  2. Type file name in Search box (top-right) → press Enter.


19. Add/Remove or Show/Hide program to taskbar

  • Add → Right-click → Pin to taskbar.

  • Remove → Right-click → Unpin from taskbar.


20. Change desktop background

Same as wallpaper:

  • Right-click Desktop → Personalize → Background → choose picture → Apply.


21. Display properties of file or folder

Right-click file/folder → Properties.
→ Shows Size, Type, Location, Date created, etc.


22. Cut and Paste / Move a file or folder

  1. Right-click file → Cut (or press Ctrl + X).

  2. Go to target folder → right-click → Paste (or Ctrl + V).


23. Copy and Paste / Copy a file or folder

  1. Right-click file → Copy (or Ctrl + C).

  2. Go to destination → Paste (or Ctrl + V).


24. Move and Copy with Mouse

  • Drag and Drop (same drive) → Moves file.

  • Drag and Drop (different drive) → Copies file.

  • Hold Ctrl while dragging → Copies file.

  • Hold Shift while dragging → Moves file.
